In what could be a huge day for Kansas City sports here we go...
NFL
Chiefs vs Rams
The Chiefs through their first six games are 3-3, and I think at the start of the season if fans were told we can jump to the seventh game with a 3-3 record we would have all taken it. The Rams come in 2-4 playing like a team with nothing to lose. I think if St. Louis was not playing with nothing to lose this would be a fairly easy win for the Chiefs, but with nothing to lose the Rams will do anything to try and win, and if doesn't work they will lose anyway. After an exciting game early and then a blow out that went late by the Royals and a noon kickoff it may take the fans some work to get in to the game. So the Chiefs can not come out flat and let the Rams get an early lead. If the Chiefs play like they have the past few weeks and Andy Reid keeps dialing up the plays that should not be an issue.
I expect this to still be a game in to the 4th quarter, but I think the Chiefs will make the plays when needed to win by double digits. Chiefs 27 Rams 17

Sporting KC vs New York Redbulls
While both Sporting KC and New York have clinch playoff berths both teams are fighting for playoff seeding. Both teams can finish anywhere from 3 to 5, why is this import? The 4 and 5 seeds have to play mid-week and then play next weekend against DC United (the top seed in the east). The 3 seed will have a home game next weekend against New England.
For Sporting it is simple, win and they are the three seed. Lose and at best they are the 4 seed. Draw and at worse they are the 4 seed. If they Lose or Draw the result of the Columbus game will come in to play (they play 4.5 hours before Sporting) and if KC matches or betters the result of Columbus they are the higher seed, if they do worse Columbus will be the higher seed.
While New York has to win and have Columbus lose in order to be the 3 seed. A draw or loss and New York will be the 5 seed and play on the road mid-week.
Both teams come in beat-up, but Sporting did have to play in Costa Rica midweek and lost two starters due to injury in that game (however one was going to be suspended anyway). Unfortuantly I don't see this game going well for Sporting, I hope I am wrong. Sporting KC 1 NY Redbulls 3
World Series Game 5
Royals at Giants
Best news is this game is not an elimination game for the Royals, the bad news is the Royals are going up against Bumgarner who until late in Game 1 had not given up a run in three World Series starts. Shields will be going for the Royals which could be a good thing, except Shields has been the worst starter (at least statistically) in the post season for the Royals. The good news is I expect Shields to have his best start in the post season tonight, the question will be is that enough to beat what seems to be the unbeatable Bumgarner.
Why do I think that Shields turns this around? One word MONEY. If Big Game can not show that he is money in big games he will cost himself millions (he will still make millions) next season in the free agent market. I also feel that Shields is a fighter who wants to win and has been disappointed in his starts so far and know that his team needs this game.
I don't think this will be a repeat of Game 1, I feel this goes down to the wire and maybe even extra innings. However the Royals will come back to KC hoping this goes to 7 games and they can win them both. Royals 1 Giants 2
