Just like last Friday there is only one game that matters today, Game 6 of the World Series.
Well there Royals are there for only the second time in 29 years, a must win game. The last must game was 4 weeks ago today. I don't think the Royals can expect a repeat of 4 weeks ago, if they fall behind the Giants like they did the A's I don't think the outcome will be the same. That being said I think this game is winnable for the Royals and I fully expect them to win this game and force a game 7.
There is one thing the Royals can not do in this game and that is fall behind early. Right now the momentum in this series is with the Giants. The have won the last 2 games and 2 of the last 4 World Series so they can taste it and know what they need to do to win it and they have no reason to believe they can't. The Royals need to give them reasons to doubt themselves and the only way to do that is to be the team leading. It is going to be a beautiful fall night for baseball in Kansas City and I expect the crowd to be electric and ready to explode.
For the Royals to win this game it is as simple as 1-2-3. 1-Ventura needs to stay composed and get through the first inning without give up a run (a lead off home run would not be good). 2-The Royals need to get a couple runs on the board in the first three innings. 3-With a lead you let Ventura cruise until you are ready to bring in the bullpen.
What could go wrong for the Royals; they fall behind early and start to work their way back in to the game. I feel that the Royals will score a few runs on Peavy tonight and based on history there is no reason to think otherwise. Then as the Royals are making their run to get back in the game Bochy will go to his World Series ace Bumgarner to close out that inning. The Royals and the fan are deflated and the Giants win.
The good news is I don't think that last option happens and the Royals win the game to force a deciding Game 7 and the city of Kansas City will be crazy tomorrow. Royals 5 Giants 2
